Show FOREST FIRES While recent storms are most welcome to southern Utah, It is admitted by Rollo II. Branson, assistant Forest Ranger on the Panguitch Lake District of Dixie National Forest, that rains do bring added work and responsibilities to personnel of the Forest Service. Four lightning caused fires occurcd on the Panguitch Lake District recently, making a total of IS fires this season on the district. Thanks to Immediate action of fire-fighting crews plus reporting of fires by alert people, the fires were controlled and extinguished before they were able to develop into an un controllable force of destruction. One recent fire was on the Dear Valley Peak and three in the Mammoth Creek drainage area. These burned areas of Vi to 1 acre in size. |
