Marion Woolsey went to the Veteran's hospital in Salt Lake, his daughter and son-in-law, the Roe Barneys had business up that way so fhey took him, he hated to leave when there is so much to do (show me a time when there Is nothing to do) . Lorin Griffin is in the Panguitch hospital taking blood transfusions and trying to get In shape for an operation; Bessie of course is with him and his daughters Iola Woolsey and Kathcrlne Coleman have been over to visit him. Mina Porter is also In the hospital, she was the victim of a freak accident, getting tangled up in either a washing machine cord or a rug she fell on her nose hurting everything from there down. They thought her shoulder and arm were both broken but the X-rny showed no breaks, but she is horribly shook up and bruised. Martha Davis Is not feeling I , . very well but is trying to get moved back into her own home against the wishes of her children. Layton Griffin broke his teeh and he was afraid he would starve to death so took off from his Job and he and LaRue went to Salt Lake to get him some new ones. The County officials held one of those CD meetings here last week with a good turnout; we've all had nightmares ever since. Mayor and Mrs. Claron Griffin made a business trip to Salt Lake last week. We arc glad to sec Daniel Wilcock feeling able to attend church again, Joanna Barker came from St. George and is staying with her daughter El-da Haws, she looks good and says she has enjoyed the winter. Don Coleman has already encountered some of the hazards of being Water Boss. (He should try writing a news column.) Ncta Shirts finally made it home, she went for two weeks and stayed over a month but she had to stay until Carol Joy got back on her feet after an operation. Glade and Dclma Reynolds visited their folks here, they and another couple were touring the scenic wonders of the vicinity. Mary R. Mclnelly feels that her posterity is increasing quite rapidly; she has had eight great-grandsons born in tho last eight months, four of which aro grandsons to Arthur. The High School held their annual E Day last Friday with the Freshmen whitewashing the E and each other; they worked it out differently this year, they fired an E up on the Big Hill and held the program up at the Race Track where parking was more con-ven'ent. The Home Ec. teach- I er Marjorie Spencer accompanied by Rcnon Roundy went to Boulder to visit the Home Ec. students there and see their home projects. June Liston had a scare last week; her father Enrol Dowdcll of Panguitch was driving a truck to Boulder when he had a heart attack, Emer-on Peterson brought him here to her home and she took him to Panguitch where he was later hospitalized. June has her sister's baby now as the sister was caring for her fa- ; thcr-in-law who is very 111. Several families had weekend visitors: the Usher Spencers had son Karl and wife Ann; the Randal Lymans son Dick and wife Mary; the Blake Rob. insons had daughter Ruth; the Reeves Bakers son Winner, Jeff Thompson was at Robinsons also; DcLane Griffin visited his family. Maud and Cliff Reynolds would have had company but they went to Panguitch with the Andrew Spencers, their sons Lark and Tony came from Kanab; Tony got a job for the Movies and is anxiously awaiting Pay Day. Word was received that the operation on the infant son of tho Hal Barkers was a success. The Donald Listons of Panguitch were In town over the weekend. The Vergene Porters and the McKay Baileys, also Melba Gates were here for the weekend. Arden Taylor and Bill Griffin quit the jobs at Glen Canyon without the consent of their wives. James Mclnelly came for the weekend and moved his workshop onto his mother-in-law's lot. Andrew and Isabcll Spencer and Daniel and Orilla Cowles went to St. George for the funeral services of Will Liston, a relative. Son Jim and myself went to Little's Ranch Friday to help mother celebrate her 75th birthday anniversary, Slim came from Long Valley and accompanied us home. Nethella Woolsey entertained the Boulder Relief Society JlMXM.MJLMXHMltM M M M.MMM.MMMMMM at her home last week, they did a quilt for Ruby Griffin, Nelda Willis and I helped them. Nethella served hot dinner to the group assisted by Flora Marchant, she also gave each of us a start of Persian cucumber seeds. James Gra-cy and family are visitors at the Vic Cottam home, Mrs. Gracy is their daughter Vcrl and they have been working on Oil Rigs. Ivan Willis took Nelda, Garna and Judy Mcln elly to Cannonville Sunday where they visited relatives and Nelda and Garna had blessings. The Bob Woolsoys have their daughter Vicky Coleman here. The High School presented a program to the local students then will take it to neighboring schools. Tho only 6afe thing to comment on Is the weather, so I've found, and still there's some who disagree and want to fight a round. |
