Show Netbella Likes THE WORD FROM BOULDER By Nethella Griffin Attending the county Democratic convention at Panguitch Friday, I received one very ctrong impression, namely and to wit, that Bill Bar-; ' locker and Bill Bruhn are a very fine pair of candidates. Mr . ' JMtH. iba4j$t Both Bills I recall that during 1957 hcn I was attending many political gatherings in Salt Lake, I was looking constantly for what would seem to me to be a right good candidate for the governorship of Utah. I never found him. But now in Mr. Barlocker, I believe I see (continued on back page) BOULDER the qualities that will make us a first class governor. Ho is young, Intelligent, forceful, and notably successful in his previous undertakings. And he lives in Souther Utah. Bill Bruhn, in my opinion, surpasses all other avowed candidates for the office of congressman from our dis-district I believe enough other people In the outlying counties of the state will agree with me when they get acquainted with Bill to elect him to Congress. Sometimes it is hard for us to recognize high ability in our own peopleThis" Is one time, I think, when we voters in Garfield county should forget party lines and all get behind our candidate and help him to wage a successful campaign. Now that the winter snows have melted everybody Is rushing into spring work. Bunches of cattle are coming In every day from poor ranges to good haystacks. Fence repairs, ditch cleaning, shrub moving, house-cleaning and paint jobs are in progress. Max Behunin has cut down th" rees in front of his house ano" !s leveling grounds and bin idiiig a new fence. Burns Ormond is building a new four-room house on the Bud Ormond place. Reed and Marion Jcppsen are building the house which the Ormonds will use during the winter months when the weather Is rough at their ranch near the mountains. The three-act comedy written and directed by Gcraldlne Shurtz and presented Friday night in Boulder and Tuesday in Escalante was highly successful. It was extremely funny in situation, dialogue, and characterization. Each member of the cast performed creditably. A substantial sum was raised toward the ward church-building fund. Those who took part were Leila Earl, Max Behunin, Alice Al-vey. Dean Shurtz, Lorraine Baker, Flora Baker, Lorena Hall, LeFair Hall, Veda Be-hunln, Cecil Griener, and Doyle Moosman. In the Boulder performance, the staging suffered a little from having to be merely a roped off area of a school room floor with backdrops of various hanging bed spreads, and with scene changes marked by stage blackouts. But the audience, clustered at the other end of the room and seated on various chairs, benches and tables, enjoyed the show immensely. |
