Show County School Schedules Set For '59-'60 Scholastic Season 1959 60 School Calendai A school year of 180 days, two days more than last year, has been set by tho calendar recently adopted by the Garfield County Board of Education. All schools in the State will be operated for at least 180 days since this is the minum-um set last year by the State Board of Education. The following calendars were adopted on recommendations from the schools after consultation with teachers, pupils and, in some areas after special meetings with patrons. The opening and closing date is ono week later at the Bryce Valley School than for the rest of the County, otherwise all dates are the same: August 31: Orientation and planning in school for teachers only except BV. September 1: Opening of School; beginning instruction in all schools. September 7: Orientation and planning for teachers of BV only. September 8: Opening and beginning instruction at BV. September 30, October 1 and 2: UEA. November 26, 27: Thanks- ' - giving holiday. December 24 January 3, 1960: Christmas holiday. April 1 3r Spring recess. May 27: Last day school, except BV. June 3: Last day of school for BV. All dates are IriclusTve.iTot1 al classroom Instruction, 180 days. Schools may elect to have school all day on Wednesday, Sept. 30 and thus have one extra day of spring vacation on April 4, provided' that all schools in each area must do the same thing. Each High School may elect to take one day as a deer hunting holiday provided that this day is made up by a full, day of school on a Saturday pre-ceeding the hunt and provided also that the necessary arrangements on buses and school lunch are made with the elementary schools. |
