Show THE NOXIOUS WEED PEST there is a law on the statute books of this state which makes it mandatory for property owners to destroy certain noxious weeds which may grow upon their premises and the law provides that where a property owner does not rid his premises of these weeds the county crop pests inspector may proceed to have it done and assess the expense against the property owner while it may appear childish to feature weeds upon the statute books of the state the law is a very wise one and should be enforced strictly one property owner may be ever so diligent in keeping his land free from weeds that kill out valuable crops and his neighbor can neutralize all these efforts by permitting these noxious weeds to flourish on his farm and the seeds to blow onto neighboring lands after they ripen this Is manifestly unfair to the farmer who delights in keeping his land clean and his products healthy and strong there are it is noted a number of prolific patches of burdock i along several of the county right of ways and in the afie farms adjacent this is one of the varieties specified by law as a noxious weed and it is wisely so designated the county crap crop pests inspector has published a warning that these weeds must be killed or he will take the necessary steps to bring about that result farmers and land owners everywhere ought to be sufficiently interested te in their own welfare to cooperate in these matters without having to be forced by the law to do 40 so noxious weeds like noxious habits kill the growth of those things which are worth while in life |
