Show School Enrollment Up In County Enrollments are rather substantially up In Garfield Coun-t for the beginning ofl the new tchool year when compared to a ear ago. We feel that It N healthy for us to grow. Wo certainly welcome the newcomers to our schools. With the exception of a few Isolated cases on" ttnehers are not overburdened with extra large classroom en-lollments. We have our problems, but generally speaking, large classes Is not one or them. It Is Interesting to note that the fdiool population In Escal-ante Is heally female. In a general population run-down there are about 105 boys to every 100 girls. In. Escalante there are 140 girls in the two echooU compared to 95 boys. In the Junior class In the high school there are 19 girls and 2 boys and It seems that the pattern I still being perpetuated. There (re 14 girls and 3 boys In the new kindergarten group. Mrs, Mildred Deuel accompanied them to Salt Lake to see them orr tor Otis Field, Mass., where he will tie stationed as an Instructor. -Margaret Davtes, Carol Ann Held and Pauline Sevy aro living In Salt Lake City, Margaret Is employed at the Payless, Carol Ann 'at Grand Central and Pauline is a secretary at the Red Cross. i-cholarships.
