Many outstanding accomplishments have been made by farmers and Irrigation companies. Held Miller has leveled some of his land for better water application. The overnight pond on Dr. Dugglns' farm hns been scaled with bentonlte. John and Leo Crofts are having their pond atSpry sealed against seepage In a similar manner. The Tropic Irrigation Co. has romplf teil 300 linear feet of canal lining which Is saving them a considerable amount of water. This Job was completed bv Alf Cherrlngton, contractor. Arlo Itarton and Vern Shake-spear, farmers In Tropic's Losee Valley, have completed a cable suspension flume across North Wash. Another big Improvement Is being made by O. A. Ilastlan In the eastern end of Garfield 'ounty nt Trachyte. While Boulder Is often thought of as the eastern end of the county. It Is more nearly the geographical center of the county Trachyte is a ranch of about 500 acres of good cropland. 30 miles from the Colorado Hlver. The problem Mr. Ilastlan is now planning to solve Is the construction of a masonry diversion dam on Trachte Creek. The dam will be 9 feet high and 80 feet long, and must withstand flash floods of 3,000 second feet or more, j The Henrieville Irrigation Co. Ik considering the construction of a much-needed and long a-walted permanent diversion i from Henrieville Creek. We cyrtalnly are looking forward to good and economical solutions to these diversion problems. |
