Show i SOIL CONSERVATION liy Norman P. Hill The Agricultural Conservation Program for 1954 has been arranged and planned and will soon Le announced to the farmers of Garfield County. While the em-phasis In the past has encouraged greater production, the main tea. ture of this year's program has been to promote good conservation practices In the Interest of fanners In the county. The County Committee in charge of the A.C.P. consists of Melrln Alvey, chairman,, Jim Tebbs and Harmon Shakespear. This group ruot with Kay Bendlx-sen, County Agent, and personnel of the SCS on Monday to study and discuss the program for the next year so that they might be well prepared to assist fanners In understanding the new, program, which Is designed to give more help and better distribution of cost shares and technical services. The County Committee and all representatives of the Department of Agriculture were fully agreed that they would make every effort to give real service In helping the fanners and ranchers in our county. So do cot hesitate to ask your SCD Supervisors or County Committee, or US DA personnel and I am ' sure they will do their' best, The chairmen for the SCD are Jesse Cherrlnctoti, Upper Sevier; Kph Coorubs, Escalante River; Jasper Hendetson, parla River. Each of these chairmen are assisted by four other members In u ing their' best to promote1',a good and Improving agriculture In your community. Watch for the announcement of the 1954 program.
