Show EMPLOYMENT OFFICE HAS "FIGHTING CHANCE" Led by our Representative, Douglas R. Strlngfellow, the Utah congressional delegation la making an all out battle to keep thn Employment Security Office open In Pangultch. Rep. Strlngfellow wrltee, from Ogden: "On Tuesday Senator Wallaco F. Bennett and I met with Commissioner Otto A. Wlesley, Cur-lis P. Harding, Administrator or the Dept. or Employment Security, and with other Interested per-bons or the State Advisory Coun Ml, labor, etc., In Salt Lake City. At that time we were all firmly of the conviction that every pos- iibie errort snouiu oe maae to retain the three field offices In Utah which have been ordered to he closed, As a result Senator Wallace F. Bennett will personally take up this matter with the Secretary of Labor when he returns to Washington on approxl- mately the 15th ot this month. We have every hope and expc latlon that we will be ahle.to secure the Dept. of Labor's approval on the reallocation of funds made available to the State of Utah for the operation of the Of-rice or the Dept. ot Employment Security In this State. We recognize the Importance and the need of the continuance or these facilities In Pangultch and In other Utah cities, and I assure you and resldenta ot your city that we will do all possible to obtain early upproval ot the Dept. or Labor In this matter." Director J. Earl Allen, or the Pangultch office, states that an extension ot 30 days has bcn given, The office was originally scheduled to close Sept. 11, but It will not close until Oct. 11. and there Is a chance the fight to keep It open might succeed. |
