Show 8QIL CONSERVATION ItY CLYDE LOWE Jasper Henderson, Karl Jolley, Harmon Shakeapear. Angus Baldwin and Thorley Johnson, mem-lers of the Parla River S.C.D. Hoard, met at the home of Jasper Henderson on Aug. 5. Clyde Lowe and Ray L. Frost, of the S.C.S., were also present. Desmond Twltchell also came end was presented a scroll and pen knife as a token from the State Assn of SCD for being an outstanding conservationist In this district. District business Included their equipment, and a review ot the planning and application phases of the district program. Some of the plans with the district were reviewed to see which ones needed amendments and to bo brought up to date. Ray L, Frost Is to assist the district In doing this work. Baed on the supervisor's opinion and local needs, the essential practices that are to be Included In the plans are as follows: (1) Better land preparation; (2) Improvement of the Irrigation layouts on the farms and Installing good head-gatee and turnouts; (3) stream bank protection; (4) seeding pastures wherever practicable; (5) a good fertilization program. It Is felt that much can be done by ,the Individual landowners on their farms by following good soil and water conservation practices. The Board Is Interested In taking groups of people on tours to see local and outside places of Interest from an agricultural standpoint. Kay Bendlx-sen, County Agent, Is going to help formulate and carry out a needed educational program for the District. |
