Show Conservation Week Governor Lee has proclaimed the week of April 5th to 11th as "Utah's Conservation Week. The observance of this week wis Initiated by the School of Forestry at the USAC several year ago for the purpose of "furthering the Conservation Program and attempting to arouse in people an awareness of the need for the (conservation of our natural resources."" ' ' The observance takes into 'consideration all of our natural renewable resources: forests, wildlife, ranges, water and soil. There Is no one of them which is not interdependent on the other. Each, to reach the height of Its particular use, must be in "top condition," Each resource must be able to do its full share in our present day economy to maintain our American way of life. Chief among these resources is the soil. It is basic to all the other resources. With It (the top soil), America can and will remain Independent and strong; without It America will become as other, one time strong nations, "Just a memory on the sands of time," Let's do our part to maintain America by carrying out to the best of our ability the Department ot Agriculture's basic Soil Conservation objective: "The use of each acre of land within Us capabilities, and the treatment ot each acre of agricultural land In accordance with Its needs for protection and Improvement," CONSERVATION FLEDCJE "I give my pledge as an American to save and faithfully to defend from waste the natural re-rources ot my country - Its soils and minerals. Us forests, waters, tind wildlife." Each ot us should memorize this pledge, and strive for Us fulfillment. |
