Show OUR SOIL OUR STRENGTH Jimmy Burrows of Hatch has recently completed the Installation of several water control structures according to Dale Webber of the SCS at Tangultch. The structures Include a large earth fill diversion dam, four erosion control structures and one-halt mile of contour spreader canal. These conservation measures were constructed In IBlg Hollow, a wash southeast of Hatch. For years considerable soil erosion has resulted from high water run off and from flash floods. An old wooden pilling structure, formerly used, was even washed out. ThLs new diversion wilt now divert the water out oT the channel where so much damage has been done. By means of a contour canal the water will be conveyed to an area a half mile away where it will be used to Irrlgte range land and produce feed instead of causing damage. The erosion control structures1 will be used to help stabilize the gullies and halt erosion. Helping to aelect the sights for these structures and providing the technical assistance to build them were Norman Hill and France- Miller, SCS, Tan-feultch. This assistance was furnished through your Upper Sevier SCD. |
