Show Farmers Called To Vote On Wheat Quotas ' Chairman Melvln Alvey or the Garfield Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Coun ty Committee has designated one voting place in Garfield County for the Wheat Referendum to be held June 25 the ASC Office at Pangultch. Polls open at 9 a.m. and close 7 p.m. on June 25. The eligible wheat growers of the county will In-, dlcate whether or not they want the wheatmarketing quota program to continue In operation for the 1956 crop.- Wheat producers who will have more than 15." acres of wheat for harvest ln"1956)are eligible to vote. The' marketing quota program does not affect those who will have 15 acres or less of wheat for harvest In '66. If two-thirds or more of the nation's wheat growers voting In the referendum approve, mar keting quotas will continue In effect for the '56 crop. This will mean that price support within a- probable range ot 75 to 82 percent of parity will be available to those who stay within tlrelr farm's wheat acreage allotment. Those who exceed the larger of the farm allotment or 15 acres will be subject to a penalty equal to 45 percent of parity on the excess production, and price . support will not be available for any of their '56 wheat crop. If more than one-third of the growers voting disapprove, marketing quotas will not be In effect and price support will be available at 60 percent of parity for those, farmers who stay within the wheat acreage allotment for their farms. Those who exceed their farm wheat allotments will not be eligible for price support. |
