Show There's Hope For Hearts Time was when a medical verdict of "heart trouble" was accepted as a death sentence from which there could be no appeal. But no more. We now know that some forms ot heart disease can be prevented, a few can be cured and that amoslt alt cases can be helped by proper treatment. Heart diseases account for more thsn 52 per cent ot all deaths; they affect some 10,-000,000 Americans, and they constitute the nation's leading health problem. Little wonder It is therefore, that hope is the underlying theme of the 195S Heart Fund campaign now under way. And why is hope warranted? Consider these facts: 1 .Research: In the past few decades, astounding progress has been made in the development of new drugs, therapy, surgical procedures, study and diagnostic tools and knowledge about the human heart. But the surface has scarcely been scratched. It follows that medical science will make greater advances In treat-, mentand prevention through the support of the. Heart Fund r 2.. Education; Fear is giving way to hope. Myths and superstitions about heart HIrpimmi m being replaced by truths and, facts -thanks to educational programs supported by your Heart Fund dollars. Also, your Heart Fund dollars will help speed vital new information about the heart diseases to physicians throughout the country. 3. Community Heart Program: In our community there is a continuing need to give heart sufferers the guidance they need to live happily and to continue as useful and productive members of society. Here again, your Heart Fund dollars perform a useful serviee. Our hope is that the 1965 Heart Fund will be crowned with success In abundant measure. Open your purse and your heart.
