Show Conservation Studied Two of Oartleld County's three SCDs held meetings to decide on questions of current Interest as well as the long raa,ge watershed problems that each are considering. The Parla District held Us meeting at the ho'jne of Jasper Henderson at Cannonvllle.Doard members present, beside Mr. Henderson, were Arlo Darton, secretary; and Earl Jolley, with Ray Frost as SCS representative. They passed a resolution to submit an application to the Governor and State SCS Conservationist for the consideration of watershed treatment on East Fork above the reservoir, and to request a meeting with representatives of the Town of Tropic, Tropic Irrigation Company and other Interested groups- At Panguitch, the Upper Sevier SCO Board met to discuss many current problems. They also passed a resolution appointing Chairman Jess Cherrlngton to ign for the group In submitting an application for federal assistance to Investigate possible watershed treatment and flood control measures for Panguitch Creek and Three Mile Creek. The Board discussed this and many other current problems In this' district. Including the election of some of the supervisors for a new term ot office. Thus far U has been reported that 12 applications have been submitted to the Coventor and State SCS Conservationists for preliminary Investigation o f planning treatment of watersheds under the new Small Watershed BUI passed by Congress at Its last session. With the two more, applications being considered for Oar-field- County and possibly some others In the state it seems that this aspect of conservation may be getting a lot of emphasis In the next few years. I believe most people are glad, to see It. The proper care and treatment of our complete small watershed units Is of prime Importance o our Country and our County. 1 |
