The presentation of "The Devil" by the Mackrave Co. last Saturday night, was well received and the house -was jrowded. Had the manager of the show company appeared before the curtain rose4 and explained ex-plained the fact that. "The Devil" in tho show, while present pre-sent in person, was only to be taken as the immaginary devil or as the omnipresent evil influences in-fluences surrouning the char-atcers char-atcers of the play, the performance per-formance would havo been better understood. Just recon-sidor recon-sidor the performance and shut your eyes to the fact that Mr. Dovil was present in person and immagine all tho actions of the characters .were simply dictated by an invisible evil spirit, and the play will appeal to you in a deeper and more sonsibile manner. In fact the play was too deep for a numbor in attendance, although others I highly appreciated it. |
