Show TOWNS WIPED OUT BYTORNADO Windstorm Strikes Mississippi and Texas, Ten Being Killed and Many Injured. Districts Visited by Disastrous Twister Twis-ter Were Sparsely Settled or the Loss of Life Would Have Been Much Heavier. Meridian, Miss. Threo smnll Mississippi Mis-sissippi towns wero practically demolished de-molished by a tornado on Friday. Reports Re-ports of the number killed range from six to ten, with tho smaller number probably correct. Mossvllle, Servlco and Sovo nro tho towns destroyed. They aro all In Jones county, and all aro very small, being merely a handful hand-ful of scattered dwellings. Tho tor-nado tor-nado struck them about noon, nnd in most Instances Is reported to havo carried the buildings In Its path completely com-pletely ofl tho lots on which they stood. Nearby Molds were covered with wreckago, and tho branches of trees wero littered with small household house-hold articles. Four Killed at Tyler. Tyler, Tex. A tornado swept over tho principal rcsldcnco portion of Tyler Ty-ler at ! o'clock Friday morning, causing' caus-ing' tho death of four persons. Tho dead aro: C. A. Francis, aged 28; his (vlfo nnd one-ycnr-old child. Moso Lee, a negro, nged SO. Francis was ngent for tho Dallas News. His dead body was found 100 yard's from his wrecked home, and tho body of his child was found In tiro street. Mrs. Francis' body was In the wrcckngo of tho building. Six persons wero seriously seri-ously Injured. They nro Irwin Franklin, Frank-lin, Mrs. Franklin nnd four Franklin children. One of tho children Is expected ex-pected to die. They were caught in tho wreckago of their homo. Twolvo bulldlngo were wrecked. Tho tnrnndn came up from the southwest and toro u path through Tylor 10 feet wide. |
