Show Peach Day At Brigham. Over 10,000 V i s i t ors Royally Entertained at the Big Annual Peach Day Celebration Celebra-tion Held in the City off Homes, Wednesday Wednes-day Sept, 15th. Each year tho annual celebration celebra-tion of Peach Day in Brigham gets better and the "City of Homes" did itself proud this season in caring for tho guests, feeding tho multitude, providing provid-ing plenty of good fruit to eat and in giving splendid fruit exhibits and up-to-date attractions attrac-tions to numerous to mention. Tho Commercial Club, John C. Knudson, president, and Peach Day Manager C. Simon-son, Simon-son, deserve special praiso for the efforts put forth in making tho day's doings a howling success. Tho town was gaily' decorated in tho National colors, alternating with green, pink and yellow, Poach Day colors. Tho guests were mot at tho depot and escorted to tho Central School grounds in all kinds of conveyances led by Brigham's famous military band. All kinds of-attractions wore provided for the ontortainmont of tho visitors and tho oxcollont displays of Brighams famous peaches and other fruits, attracted attract-ed tho attention of all. Everybody Every-body was supplied with all tho peaches, cantaloupes, melons, etc, they could eat and over 25,000 souvenir boxes of peaches were given to the guests, each box labeled "Presented by tho Box Elder Commercial Club, Brigham City, Utah." Tho prize winners Trophy cup, J. A. Hanson; I E. Pribblo, $4; best 5 boxes Elbertas, H. Standidg, $4; 2nd best 5 boxes, W. T. Davis, $3; best 2 boxes, J. L. Robinetta,$2; 2nd best 2 boxes, H. Hoist, $1; box largest poaches, Wynn L. Eddy $l..f50; second box largest poaches, M. L. Nichols, f)0c; best display dis-play of fruit, Knudson Bros, $2; 2nd best display, B. C. Fruit Growers' Assn. $1: best com mercial pack of fruit, W. 0. Knudson, $2; 2nd best commercial com-mercial pack, Knudson Bros. $1. Tho Boar River Valley Commercial Com-mercial Club purchased 20 cases of tho best peaches on display and will send them to the Inland Empire exhibit at Salt Lake. The high diving foits by Messrs Bowen and Evans wore thrilling features of tho day's amusements and pleased tho crowd in good shape. There was something doing of interest at the Central School grounds all day and in the afternoon the Occidental base ball 9 defeated the famous. Elbertas at tho City park in a score of 11 to 4. Crowds wont to the Academy of Music to take in tho dance in tho afternoon. Dancing, moving picture shows, etc, were the attractions at night and everybody seemed to have a good timo. Wo failed to hear a single kick, which speaks well of the wholo affair. The special Peach Day edition edi-tion of the Box Elder News was indeed a gem and reflects great credit to tho publishers. Tho Box Elder Journol also issuod a very croditabio edition. Wednesday morning Agent Gross at the Garland depot disposed dis-posed of f3 tickets and in tho afternoon sold quite a fow more. Garland and tho surrounding towns of the Bear River Valloy woroxwoll represented. Many went down tho foro part of tho week and others drove down in rigs early Wednesdny morning. |
