A long standing family .quarrel caused tho tragody. McMahon killed Van Royen In tho timber and later went to tho Van Royen homo and shot his" sistors. Fearing mob violence by a throng gathered about tho county Jail aftor tne concession, tho nutnontlus rushed the murdoror and his brother Patrick McMahon and Patrick Lamb, larm-hand, larm-hand, who aro hold as witnesses in the case, to tho Kansas stato penitentiary peniten-tiary at Lansing in automobiles.
