Show LINCOLN DAY PROGRAM an am interesting program was given last evening at the auditorium of 0 tho the odthe 0 the commercial club rooms under the direction of 0 the local post ot of the american legion and the ladies auxiliary president J C lillywhite was in charge and called the meeting to order at the audience stood as the national emblem and post colors were carried into the assembly room and placed in position and remained standing while singing the farst verse of america invocation was offered by the chaplain amos C hatch president lillywhite delivered a short address of welcome and stated that this was the first function ot of the kind put on by the legion but said that more social programs would follow the legion quintet composed ot of henry frogley Ft ogley harry frank cliff rogers lawrence hansen and harvey peirce rendered two pleasing numbers followed by two readings by miss elnora hatch henry frogley then gave two solos the feature of the evening was an address on the life of abraham lincoln by judge fred J holton in his remarks mr holton discussed the life ot of the great emancipator from the early history of his boyhood up to the time of his martyrdom intermingling with his life the important parts of american history from washington time up to the end of the civil war the freeing of the slaves and the final saving of the nation his address was a masterful one and listened to with rapt attention by the large audience mr holton was tendered a vote of 0 thanks tor for his splendid oration the program concluded with a solo and encore by mr frank 1 mrs harry 1 I frank was accompanist tor for the singing |
