Show PROGRAM MAY INCLUDE ROAD IN PAROWAN CANYON A now forest road through ough paro wan conyon and onto tile mammoth la Is almost a certainty na as a part of the reforestation program according to supervisor J 10 gurr of the dixie national forest details of the forest development plan aro are still lacking mr air gurr duir says but ho liaa has advised that lie ho could start as aa many mally as three hundred men to work by the fit and increase tile the number as aa tile the season advances to about eight hundred lie ho expects sonio some definite word tit at aio an bitne but at present he can not give any information to tile the hundreds ot of local men who are anxious to know moro more about tho the plan in the avent of road construe lion in our canyon the supervisor says saya tile the route must be I 1 by y way 10 of the first or the second lefthand left 1 fab hand 11 canyons and from available information lie he Is IF inclined to prefer the latter lie ho suggests however hat parowan carowan people should bo giving the matter some thought og as they may be called on to make n decision the main canyon road mr says la Is out of the picture because it open up now forest resources as would the other route yankee meadow will be the first objective regardless ot of whether first or secondhand second hand canyon Is decided on from this point the road may go through lark dark hollow and around un dartho under tha ledge or it may go over the ledga and into castle valley to intersect the cedar breaks panguitch lake roa road d depending on which route seems seema mo most a t feasible when an all investigation vesti resti gation gatton Is made after the snow goes off because the snow is practically gone in either of the canyons mak ing it possible to commence work immediately this road will probably be one of the first projects undertaken and a large crew of men may be put to work there pending tho coln of sno snow v on the higher elevations olav atlAs of the tha forest to r est the supervisor Is rather sympathetic to the second lefthand left hand because cause of the beautiful scenery which would bo be made accessible arid and he believes a better road grade may be obtainable A road from the head of the mammoth to brien head point will probably be a part of the development velo ament program also and in the event that the road goes over the ledge from the yankee there may bo be a high line rold road to connect with the other at brien arlen head all these developments and the many others contemplated tor for the forest are of course all contingent on the working out of details for the presidents reforestation program how many of them may materialize la is only conjectural at this time parowan carowan times |
