Show OLD STATE HO HOUSE TO BE DEDICATED STATE MUSEUM tho the daughters of tho the utah pioneers in carrying out their purpose of preserving and maintaining historic bullings and relics of pioneer days have turned their attention to the old state house it at fillmore this old stone building was erected in 1854 and housed two ses sessions slona of the territorial rit orial legislature later the capitol was permanently established at salt lake and the building was taken over by ri allmore city and and used for various purposes by the people of that community it was given little care and became more run down from year to td year until 1921 1922 when the american lo le glon got an appropriation from the state of utah and spent the money and much free labor in repairing the building aho the state legislature in 1927 made an appropriation of 10 which was used in restoring the building to its original condition con dlton diton the building and grounds were taken over by the state of utah aid and are now state property I 1 the daughters of the Plon pioneers bers have been given charge of the building tor for the purpose of making a place tocol to collect preserve and exhibit pioneer relics the millard county chapters have secured du an appropriation of from the county bounty commissioners of millard county and are now busy preparing the building and exhibits in order to promote interest in the hie building and ba have ve the people of utah uch become better acquainted with iti it they have planned a big STATE DAYS celebration at fillmore fellmore on ju july ly 24 and 25 the entertainment will include parades programs a 9 pageant t depleting depicting utah history a and nd tho the dediea dedication by governor georke george H dorn dern of the old state house as a S state fate museum there will also be band corf abi aerts rodeo dancing racing a free barbecue and a horse show the daughters of at the pioneers cordially invite you to attend this celebration yours NELLIE M HUNTSMAN pres east millard chapter |
