Show SCOUT JAMBOREE AT CLEVILLE circleville CIR ciRa EVILLE troop 65 55 of Pan gultch won first place with troop 81 of panguitch Pan gultch taking second closely followed by troop 79 of tropic for third place and 17 of antimony for fourth place according to scout commissioner dr J 0 jones the scout jamboree held at circleville Cir cleville on april 18 and 18 was a big success and very interesting from start to finish there were in the neighborhood ot of ono one hundred fifty scouts from the two stakes present at the gala affair panguitch Pan gultch stake being represented by five troops and garfield Gartl eld stake having three lures troops present the various troops began collecting about 5 30 on the evening of the and were busy from then until 8 getting their tents pitched beds made and suppers cooked and eaten at 8 president J W hend orson of the Pang stake court ot of honor lighted the bl big bonfire in the tha center of the field and the assembly call was sounded to which the scouts readily responded scout executive wro 0 barton of the bryce canyon council was present and took charge of the evening program which consisted of troop songs stunts and yells harmonica solos a speech of welcome by mayor dalton of Cir circleville cleville a response by star scout wallace miller ot of troop 64 54 the appearance of 0 the spirit of advancement in person and the awarding of badges of 0 the different ranks this was followed follow edby by two splendid camp tire fire stories never tell a lie to to an indian and the kid made good after which tops taps were bounded and all found their tents tor for tho the night at 5 30 the next morning the bugle sounded and the camp was soon astir again just at sunrise the troops fell into ialo line and executed a beautiful flag ceremony after which short drills and exercises were enjoyed by all the weather being cool enough to furnish the right amount of pop pep to the affair breakfast was over campa cleaned up ang and all was waa in readiness for the lineup line up for the parade at 8 30 A M when the troops marched along the main street and then made made a big circle where games songs and yells were again demonstrated to the town iown folks who were gathered to listen the troops again marched to the camp grounds where contest work in the following events took place and awards made to the winners 1 camping 2 marching 3 semaphore signaling 4 morse signaling 5 second class first aid 6 tent teat pitching 7 rope spinning 8 knot tyng tying 9 cooking Cook ipg 10 handicraft 11 message relay helay when the final count was made the troops were found to finish in the following order with the following number of points each troop 65 55 panguitch Pan gultch north ward 63 53 points troop 81 panguitch Pan gultch south ward 39 points troop 79 tropic 38 points troop 17 antimony 37 points troop 54 panguitch Pan gultch north ward 35 troop 76 junction Janet loa 10 troop 78 Cir circleville cleville 4 points silver medals were awarded to first place winners and bronze medals to second place winners and ribbons to third place winners in the dual events while pennants were awarded to teams winning la in events where team work was called for the I 1 he winning troop is to receive a large blue pennant while the troop taking second place receives a large lar ge red pen pennant the jamboree proper was over about 12 noon but the hungry boys were anxious to take on another meal before breaking camp so finally left about P M all arrived home sate and sound well pleased with the outing and determined to work harder and be better prepared for the jamboree next year which it is hoped will be held at panguitch Pan gultch |
