concerning the dixie national forest which because of its general interest for the people ot of this section we are publishing as follows tho the dixie national nation al forest with headquarters at cedar city utah embraces acres ot of public lands in southwestern utah and acres covering the charleston mountains in southwestern nevada many scenic attraction aro are included within the area among amohn the most important are cedar breaks many alpine parks navajo lako lake panguitch Pan gultch lake tile the pine valley mountains and tho tile charleston mountains many recreational attractions are prevalent among which beat boating I 1 horse back riding hiking and a visit tb drian brian head point with an elevation of I 1 feet where ono one may stand and view in the di distance objects located in five different states for the perison desiring hotel accommodations these are available in many mountain i resorts tile the dixie forest provides ideal set tings for summer homes sites for these may be obtained by maki making ag application to the forest supervisor for a permit an annual rental charge of 10 to 25 Is made within tho the forest head of cattle and horses and sheep are annually grazed 1 under permit to individual owners there Is annually produced from the grazing of this livestock and through the proper Iza tion of the forage crop approximately pounds of beef of mutton and of wool tho the proper use of this forage crop with the resulting production of these com corni modi modifies ties therefore there toro materially contribute to the tha best financial and acono nita structures of adjacent communities and local interests it therefore Is imperative that protection be at forded corded this resource to the extent that a permanent maximum sustained yield can and will be obtained except for a few head headst of milk or cows animals owned and used by settlers bottlers residing within or to the forest and animals used by prospectors nil all stock allowed use and in ili addition several thousand farm units are also dependent thereon tor for irrigation purposes the aim and purpose of forest service administration is to properly correlate conserve and yet use the many and varied resources within the forest and to make these perpetually contri ante to the best health wealth happiness and welfare of the many and varied interests which are users there ot of to accomplish this necessitates necessitate s cooperation from all interested agencies in providing needed protection in furtherance of the alms alma and objectives jec tives this cooperation is earnest ly solicited since the utmost lands uses and lands productivity cannot be obtained without the aid and support of any and all agen agencies clep interested therein within the forest the tourist and will receive a hearty welcome it if they will only stop to appreciate preci ate the values of these resources to an extent that th they ey will not contribute in any way to the de depreste presta atlon thereof to and including fiscal year 1928 within and adjacent to the national forests utah miles of forest highways and miles of forest development ment roads were constructed at a cost
