Show KEEP THE SCHOOL ELECTION IN MIN mind D following closely upon the heels of the general election will come the school election in december there la Is to be elected a school board member from three of the precincts ot of garfield Gartl eld county in as much as everybody Is jin interested in the welfare and the progress of our schools all should be interested in iii the coming election no small burden rest upon the shoulders of the board of aduca tion in any school district but in some of the districts due to financial aid board members are taxed to their wits end to know how low best to carry on the work of the schools with the means at their command matters of serious consequence and problems of great import pertaining to the the best interests of our schools are constantly before the men who have been selected to carry this ro responsibility therefore men should bo be chosen for this work who are well prepared by reas reason ei of their training in the practical affairs ot of life and thele their broad understanding ot oft community needs which will enable them to justly and wis wisely ely serve the best interests of the people in an unbiased unselfish and intelligent ni manner anner i efficient schools cannot be had without adequate buildings the necessary equipment and well well trained teachers schools cannot be properly organized without the these se necessary and essential elements while the school exists for the children childr dit without the things herpin herein mentioned what kind pt school can be had transportation fuel supplies and proper health conditions surrounding our schools are all vital to the welfare of these institutions where the machinery for the bijil building dIng of worthy citizenship Is sot set up then agal agala in some of 0 the districts the question of a longer term of school Is a very vital issue thesa and other problems which constantly claim our attention enable us fo 0 o more fully understand der dor stand ana and better appreciate the responsibility pt 0 bard members in districts district i where it Is impossible to furnish ey everything erTIng that the school should have halve it ft Is no easy undertaking to determine what can under existing conditions condi tlona be had bad and what Is most important imports it tos athla situation must be very carefully thought out and wisely administered men are needed who will give serious thought and careful consideration to all these important matters in the past number of years it has been the policy of the school board to live within its means and to provide in tho the best way possible according to the best judgment of its members that which was most important new stuat situations ions constantly arlsie which require added expense and people do not always understand how difficult it la Is tor for the school board to provide tor for and to meet the demands fe mands of these new school requirements in my opinion the school should not otter offer more than it can pay tor for it is the bustness business of the board of education to saye save and conserve in every possible way to tho the best interests of the schools under its ita direction the moneys ev S a at t its command no effort should be spared to stop slop every unnecessary expenditure be it evo ever so small the schools of this district are making progress and there la Is no reason under existing conditions and wise management why they should nt not contido to make wholesome and permanent growth this must necessarily I 1 cessa rily be slow but it c can an be had wo we should carefully guard all of our interests and in the matter of our schools it should be our codr business to have its affairs if fairs administered inthe best possible way for the best good of all concerned yours to fo better schools F P G GARDINER S apt supt |
