Show NOXIOUS WEEDS A MENACE TO agriculture A careful survey ot of the major part of garfield Gartl eld county has been made by the agricultural inspector with the te object in view of ascertaining the extent and seriousness ot of the weed situation As a result of this survey it ia found that we are not seriously burdened with a weed problem however we do have a weed situation which demands attention ot of a very strict nature whitetop Whito top la Is our most serious weed enemy anyone who has regularly read I 1 the newspapers of the northern part ot of the state knows by now just what a struggle la Is being made to copo with this post pest in somo some of the northern and central counties 0 of tho the state whitetop Whito top has a fair start in this coun ty and promises unless stringent measures are put into three to spread onto all the farm land that la Is being irrigated too few persons recognize this weed on oil sight hence it Is allowed to spread afar before any attempt Is made at control it la Is the duty ot of every farmer to become acquainted with this post pest and to report any in fe stations of it found to the proper authorizes author auth orites lles small patches left undisturbed this year may spread to your neighbors field next year and cause endless trouble and expense in future years the county commissioners have expressed their willingness to cooperate with the tha state board of agriculture in an attempt to rid the county of this weed the noxious weed law will be enforced this year so where land owners do not clean up of their own accord they will be compelled to do so by the state it Is believed that it will not be necessary to force anyone to clean up weeds in this county hearty cooperation has met all efforts ot the agricultural inspector so far it such cooperation continues garfield county will soon be rid 0 of the weed menace JOHN IEL BLAZZARD Di district t agricultural inspector a |
