Show FLAG RAISING AT CEMENT PLANT at 1230 on wednesday afternoon te ter noon brief patriotic exercises were held by the workers at the cement plant and a new american hag flag was hoisted to the top of the flag staff the flag had recently been P purchased ur chased from the contributions of 0 the workmen at the plant and the flag raising exercises were under the direction of 14 oreman jacobsen of all ladsen bros co which is constructing the big potash plant the program consisted of 0 the sing frig ng of america by a quartet composed of mr prank frank foster baritone mr air frank stevens bass mr air I 1 mariln alalvin olson olsen tenor and miss aliss geneva lii ensign dign soprano with alth violin accompaniment 4 pani ment by ed larsen attorney win J lowe then delivered a short flag address in which lie set orth forth some ot at the ideals and rights for which old did glory stands his remarks being frequently interrupted by tile the applause of the audience the concluding number was the singing of the first verso verse of the star spangled banner by mr air foster during which miss aliss ensign hauled the flag to the top of tile the staff amid the applause applan se of the audience and then the quartet joined in the singing of the balance of the patriotic song everybody joining in the singing of the chorus the exercises occupied about fifty five minutes and were very impressive similar patriotic exercises are being held at frequent intervals in every big manufacturing and industrial plant all over the nation |
