He preached his first sermon since his return from Eu rope. Among other things he said: "Of the eighty thousand ministers of the gospel that I have been told are in this country, probably sixty thousand came from homes where there was a scarcity of food and where there was a great deal of parental, euffei ing. I know of cases of youce men who have been fitted for the mnyViify- that .have almost taken: the foJJfium ttrerr pa- rent's tables. T "When I returned home a short time ago, for thirty-six hours we were in the midst of a cyclone, and all during that time many of us thought , we would go to the bottom of the ocean. Wtall prayed a part of the time, and there were only two friyolous oersons on board. One was an American, and be was drunk, and the other was an Englishman, and he was a fool. We landed safely, however, and we one and all thanked the captain; but I must confess that 1 forgot the engineer who had much to do with our safety. There is a day coming when we will find out all of those who haye done unrecognized un-recognized work." |
