Show An Address to the Public. To the Editor of the Evening Dispatch. Ivindly permit me through the columns col-umns of your paper to answer certain false ana defamatory reports, concerning concern-ing the Utah County Fruit & Agricultural Agri-cultural society and its officers, which I was confronted with upon my recent return from a trip through .southern Utah and points in northern Arizona. Why it should be assumed by "Mother Grundy" that I had skipped for parts unknown, lam unable to tell. This same "Mother Grundy," it appears, has occasionally advised the farmers and producers not to ship their products pro-ducts through the Utah County Fruit & Agricultural Bociety, as they ran a great risk of losiDg it all, as the society is not responsible and has only a "tramp" to attend to the business o. the Bame. Now, in the first place, such slanderous slander-ous assumptions eerve a great injustice injus-tice upon the president and officers of the society, who are men of high standing stand-ing and unquestioned integrity in their respective communities in Utah county; enterprising and public spirited spir-ited men, who have cheerfully obligated obli-gated themselves financially, as weil as giving thtir valuable time, in order to promote the welfare of the society aud of the "hub of the wheel" the farmer thereby serving, the best interests in-terests of the community. Again, that the organization of this society has proven a great boon to the producers, as scores can testify to. Last season nearly 50 per cent, of all the potatoes po-tatoes shipped from this station were handled by us, which netted the farmer from three to nine cents per bushel above the price paid at any other point in Utah, besides creating a better and more profitaDle market in this locality local-ity than would otherwise have existed. And again, all communications and the office books are open for inspection by e Very member and shipper, that they may thereby aBeure themselves that they are paid every cent due. And the manager requests and is desirous that every shipper investigates for him-Belf. him-Belf. It is clearly to be seen that the interests in-terests of the farmers settle in the continuation con-tinuation and promotion of this their agency, and that they give the same their moral as well as their Email financial finan-cial support, and not permit its progress pro-gress to be deterred through the unreliable unre-liable rumors set afloat by those who have but their own Belhsb ends in view. |
