Good republicans re-publicans are ashamed of it, as they ought to be. . After a careful reading of the reports re-ports of the debate between Judge Powers and Judge Goodwin at Salt Lake Lake Thursday night, but one conclusion is reached, and that is, that adroit and able as Judge Goodwin unquestionably un-questionably is, yet he is no sort of a match for his great adversary. Powers has all Judge G's. research, all of his adroitness and all of his ability, but he has been an active man of affairSj while Goodwin has been a dreamer, a phrase-maker, a poet. That's the difference between them and this debate de-bate shows it plainly. The victory rein re-in tine J with Powers- Look out for the paster trick. Lt every democratic voter constitute himself him-self a committee of one to see to it that the Cannon pasters are not allowed to go over Rawlins' name. Stop it. Set your foot on the dishonest scheme. This lattst villiany only shows how desperate des-perate the tricksters have grown to be. This, added to some more of tbeir exposed ex-posed villainies, is quite sufficient to box them up in the black box of defeat Eternal vigilance is the price democrats demo-crats must pay for victory. Watch their rascalities. Watch them close. Give them no time to play their villainies. Towers, Hendersjn, Roberts, Ra-j Ra-j lins and Richards are names of men who have worked heroically in this war. These are names of men well-be'oved well-be'oved in Utah, and the results will show the weight they have with t e paople. The work they have done and its worth is seen already al-ready in the confidence and brigtt hopes of the democrats of Utah, Wheee communications are s -nt in attacking character, unless they are accompanied by sworn affidavits, they will always be rejected. Even to win victory we can not and will not assail character. Communications must be written plainly, if upon sized paper ihey must be written in ink. The man who furnished the facts (?) for the republican "County Salaries" circular is a "candidate for the constitu tional convention. Voters should recollect recol-lect how in that circular he has defamed de-famed the integrity and ability of tha honest men with whom he was associated as-sociated in the county court. j John C Graham and Charles Crane make a slick running team it is true, but the fastebt nags get themselves beaten sometimes. John C's misrepre- i; i m. .imnifm j ,j. nM j, ,r sentation of the leaders of the church and Charles' infidelity to his brother, will not aid them in securing either county or state victor?. The republicans are going from town to town with their gaudy red show and bogus silver cannoD, trying to divert the attention of the voters from the real issues of the campaign. But this election is not to be won on high cole Id. I ' Two thousand dollars for red coats, capes, caps and guns doesn't indicate "hard times." Why didn't the repub-f licans of Utah county donate that! money to some charity fund, if people are in such hard straits, as they pretend. . , The czar of Russia is dead. He died at 2:5 p. m., Thursday. In the whirl of a crave political campaign, we regret re-gret that The Dispatch can devote but email editorial space to the important import-ant event. . Monday is the supreme day of this campaign. Let all true democrats be on the alert both Monday and Tuesday. Tues-day. Let your labois be with the doubtf uls. Those fine uniforms cost a good deal of money and now to h .ve them prove a bad investment, would be rather severe. se-vere. Nobody but a bonanza king can stand a racket of that sort. The republicans of Utah county are revising and materially reducing their estimated majorities.. They are letting I themselves down easily, it seems. |
