OfTJah Our Own Provo Proceeding of the First Day The Visitors Treated to a Bide About the Town by the Chamber of Commerce. Some Eixty-five Knights of Pythias, members of and delegates to the grand lodge now in session here, reached Provo oyer the R. G. W. at 9:26 this morning from Salt Lake, Ogden and Park City. They were met at the depot by the Aspn band and a delegation dele-gation of the local Knights together with many citizens and escorted up J street to the lode headquarters, the Heed Smoot block, to the s rains of excellent ex-cellent music by the band. Excursionists other than Knights were on the train. A detachment of Knights from Grand Junction came in at noon and others are on the way and tomorrow the Knights of the uniformed rank will reach the city, when the competitive com-petitive drilling will take place on the west square. Tne session was opened in regular ritualistic form, after which the following fol-lowing telegram was received and read to the grand lodge in session : '"Lijia, Ohio, June 18: Tt J. S. Cor lew. G. C 1 send greeting to the membership of Utah and may succeeB attend' you in all yonr future efforts. ( Walter B. Richie, S. C." The lodge instructed the grand chancellor to answer the telegram. The reports of the officers were referred re-ferred to the following committee on distribution: E. W. Uuncan, J. With-erill With-erill and E E. Dud;ey. George V. Schramm was appointed minute clerk of the session. An invitation from the citizens of Provo to the members of the grand lo 'ge to participate in a ride over the city and suburbs this afternoon was received and accepted. The adoption of the report of the committee on new constitution was made special order for session of grand lo..ge to convene at 1 o'clock and recess re-cess was taken until that time. That work was begun and was well under way when the ti ue tor adjournment adjourn-ment to take the ride came. The evening will be devoted to the grand banquet to be tendered visitors by the local lodge in the Procter academy, acad-emy, at which it is expected to seat 300 guests. Great preparations for this event are under way. It promises to be a most grand affair. The decorations decora-tions so far are elaborate and these will be added to with many flowers. The menu will be superb. The wives nd sweethearts ot Provo's Sir Knights have its preparation in charge. |
