Show The statutes of the United States answers the oft propounded question of what class of foreign born women are entitled to register. Section 1994 reads as follows. "Any woman who is now or may hereafter be married to a citizen of the United States, and who might herself be lawfully naturalized, natur-alized, shall be deemed a citizen." Of course native born women are citizens, citi-zens, and the marriage that supercedes the necessity of naturalization must be a valid, legal marriage. Alien born women must possess the qualifications of citizenship in their own personal right, and then a valid marriage to a citizen confers citizenship upon them the same as uaturilzation before a court. We do not think last night'e fling at the late editor of this paper would haye been published by the Enquirer if be Lad not bten supposed to be absent from Provo. Slander of the absent is not a mark of either physical or moral courage, cour-age, but the colonel happened to be here and can tale care of himself. We advise democrats to register aB the law directs, and hope republicans will follow the advice of their local organ in registration matters. |
