Cluff, Deceased, Late President of tbe Council, Adopted Councilor Hal-laday Hal-laday Reports Progress on the Water district Cosolidatloa Scheme other Business, At last night's seBBion of the city council Councilor Holdaway was duly installed and appointed to all the committees com-mittees on which ex-Councilor Ross was. The vacancy from the Jfirst ward occasioned by the deatn of Josiah W. Cluff was not filled as was expected it would be. Other business was transacted as follows: E. S. Hines was granted permission to use part of F Btreet for the storing of necesssary material for his residence resi-dence now in course of erection. Communication of Charles DeMoisy setting forth the fact that no plats of plats A, B. and C, city survey of building build-ing lots, are on file in the couniy recorder's re-corder's office, was relerred to the com-1 mitiee en judiciary. Alex Hedquist, sr., asked for removal re-moval of water ditch at corner of L and Fifteenth streets to the line ot the sidewalk, that he might be enabled to repair his sidewalk in accordance with ordinance. Granted, and the water-master water-master instructed to make new ditch and till up the old one. Groneman Brothers asked for remittance re-mittance of license paid for dancing, pavilion account of receiving no police protection. Not granted, but the marshal mar-shal instructed to give the pavilion better police protection in future. A. Halladay reported on the matter of visitin? Heber City and other parties in relation to the water rights of Proyo river. He, with J. E. Booth, had, on August 8th, met at Heber with representatives of all canal companies com-panies and others using water from Provo river at which meeting a commission com-mission consisting of J. E. Booth of Provo, A. C Hatch of Heber and one man from Kamas yet to be named was appointed to take eyidence, present their findings to another meeting of all parties to be held at a later date and if a majority of that meeting approve ap-prove of those findings the same shall be used as a basi3 on which to ask the pioper court or courts for a decree settling set-tling all water riphts in the river. The report was approved and the recommendation recom-mendation that the coutcil take further fur-ther steps to secure and maintain the water right of the citizens of Provo city was adopted. Resolutions of respect for J. W. Cluff, deceased, late president of the council, aB prepared by the special committee, were read, approyed and ordered spread upon the minutes. The matter of extending the fire limits lim-its was eprung by Councilor Simmons and referred to the committee on judiciary. ju-diciary. Claims totaling $33.13 were allowed and council adjourned. |
