Hickman, Lately Appointed Ap-pointed A grent for John Beck, After His Scalp Seldom is it that so much wide-spread interest is manifested in the appointment appoint-ment of an agent as has been mani tested by the people in all parts of Utah in the appointment by John Beck of John 11. Hickman as his general gen-eral agent and business manager. Eppncially marked has that interest been here, as Mr. Hickman, though a Xephi raised young man, is well known all over Utah county where he has done much business in the horse and cattle line, and particularly well known is he in Provo where he has many warm and attached friends and where he spent a couple of years or more as a student of the B. Y. academy acad-emy from which institution he oradu-ated oradu-ated in the early SO's. Mr. Beck is a Utah county man, hie home being in Lehi. His business enterprises are an important factor in the territory's progress and development. Mr. Beck's hdsts of friends in these parts were busy heaitily compliment ing him on his wise Eelection of Mr-Hickman, Mr-Hickman, who is a thoroughly reliable, capable, competent and honorable young man, and a genuine western hustler.every inch of biro, as his auent, when they were startled cn reading in yeiterday's Salt Lake papers that Mr. Bock had written a note to Mr. Hickman Hick-man informing that young man that pince sgniug the contract under which he (Hickman) was employed by Bck aa agent, at a yearly salary of $4,000.00, he had concluded that he did not need the services cf an agent. The Salt Lake papers intimate that undue influeuce has been brought lo j bear upon Mr. Beck against Mr. Hickman, Hick-man, and states that as soon as Mr. Eeck had been induced to sign the note to Hickman, he was spirited out of the city. He went to Bountiful. Immediately Immedi-ately thereupon the chase became a hot one certain men working against Mr. Hickman attempting to keep Mr. Beck out of reach of Hickman and Hickman Hick-man hunting Beck for an explanation, and all Sait Lake became interested in it. All parties to this affair are expee'ed to come together today or this evening What the outcome will be of course is not known, tut it is known that Mr. Eeck cannot find anything against the character ot Mr. Hic&man and that Mr. Hickman's abilities are A. 1. The DisrATCii voices the sentiments, senti-ments, practically of all southern Utah, when it says Mr. Hickman deserves success, that he has the ability to get there, and will get there, and give Mr. Beck such good service as he has never had before when he doesget there, and his enemies have all been downed. |
