Show The supreme court has handed down its decision in the appealed cases against 8. M. Duggins of this city, convicted con-victed of adultery, and against Wni. March convicted of conducting a gaming gam-ing house. Sim must spend nine months in the penitentiary (mittimus was ordered Issued at once) and March must spend three months in the county jail and pay a fine of 8200.00. Ma. And Mrs. McIlrath, bicyclists touring the world in the interest of the Chicago Inter-Ocean, reached Provo last night headed westward. Merton Daxbury, a young man of Providence, Rhode Island also on a wheel, accompained the newspaper people. Mr. Daxbury is going from coast to coast. This morning toe company com-pany took a spin about town and went on this afternoon to Salt Lake city. The riders will return to Provo again on Monday next and remain with us a couple of days. II. N. Whitney, the 15-year old eon of Bishop O. F. Whitney of Salt Lake, is in the city hustling subscribers for "Men and Women." the new weekly paper being published at the capital by O. F. Whitney and Calvin Reasoner. |
