Provo's base ball team came home from Park City this morniug praising the boys of lhe famous mining cnip for their treatment of them as viEi'ors in their city, but complaining bitterly of the treatment received at their hands on the diamond. Our boys say they had the Park City umpire as well as the Park City base ball nine to play againet. They eay the umpire's decisions de-cisions were very raw and always in favor of the home team. Provo's umpire um-pire was very lair all round and did not follow the lead of the Park Cily man by favoring his own team. The ecore, 17 to 14 favor of the Park Citys, shows that no very eood bail was played; n fact Manager Oabome declares de-clares that our men lacked a whole lot of their UBual vim and carefulness while playing. Undoubtedly the long ride in wagons on Saturday tired them out, and then it is fair to presume that 6orre of the boys saw a little bit of the town on Saturday night .instead of going go-ing to bed and resting up. From all reports they had no business to lose the game, many thei a are who declare they are a better team by far than the Park Citys. The Park City boys say they will net leave their own ground to play anywhere. There is an attempt being made to have the game played over again 8 1 Midway on Saturday next. There is little prospecfof the match being made. However, the assertion is made that if the purse is hung up on Satuiday the Provo boys will go to Midway, and if the Park Citys are not there 'they will claim both the puree and the championship of the territory. An Aftr Election correspondence. "The shortest correspondence on reo York yesterday, "passed between Amos Cummings ai.d me a few months ago. Shortly after tho November election, when Amos was defeated for congress, he was appointed subway commissioner of New York at a salary of $5,000 a year. When I heard of it, I sent Amos this letter: " 'Dear Amos' Then I drew a picture pic-ture of a human hand and wrote in red letters across the palm the word 'Shake!' 'Yours, Covert.' "Two days later I received a reply. It read thus: " 'Dear Jim' Underneath was a human hand stretched in the opposite direction from that drawn in my letter and bearing on the palm the word 'Thanks.' In the corner of tho page was an excellent delineation of a champagne glass half filled with wine, and under it the words 'With pleasure. Yours, "But I always believed that Amos' reply was not genuine. You ask me why? Because I never saw him with a half filled gKss. It was either bumming over or empty. " Washington Times. Conference.
