Show FIRST DISTRICT COURT. Robinson Gets a Verdict Against the XT P. Other Business Disposed of. All of the evidence in the Robinson vs. U. P. danjage suit was given yesterday yester-day before Judge Smith and a jury, aDd the arguments were completed by the attorneys late in the afternoon. The judge charged the jury this morning and they went out to consider the verdict. ver-dict. At 11 :20 a. m., after being out jast one hour and thirty-five minutes, the jury returned, having found a yerdict for plaintiff in the aam of $4750 00. Tae next business taken by Judge Smith was a demurrer in the case ot Pleasant Grove City vs. Arlemus Hoi man.. The suit is brought to collect. $18.50 water tax due for 1S93 E. A. Wedgwood represents Pleasant Grove cily and A. Saxey appears for Holmac. Attorney Saxey demurred to the complaint com-plaint on the ground ta3t the city has no jurisdiction over water and land outside out-side of the city limits. The demurrer was overruled. The suit of Spanish Fork co-op. vs. Wm. P. Hales was next called and it went to trial. E. A. Wilson and Wm. Creer appear for the Co-op. J W. N . Wbitecotton appears for the defendant. defend-ant. The suit is for the collection of $1660 book account which Hales denies owing, except $88.00. The juiy brought in a verdict for the plaintiff corporation for $90,11. The Spanish Fork Co-op. vs. Hyrum Hales was next called. The same counsal appeared as in the former case. This suit is brought to recover $120.84 claimed on a stated account. The case was tried with eleven jurors as the panel was exhausted. In the case of Samuel Liddiard ys Wm. Twelves, defendant's demurrer withdrawn and thirty days giyen to answer. |
