Show ! -' f Idaho Gems and Minerals. Besides the boast that Idaho produces almost every mineral heretofore known to science, also diamonds, emeralds, rabies, ra-bies, sapphires and opals, now comes the report from the Smithsonian institution at Washington that a variety of ore sent there from Cassia county contains a metal met-al unknown to scientists, which they have named powellite, in honor of the gentleman gentle-man at the head of the geological survey in the state. Recently it has been discovered that the "chalk hills" in this country, which cover considerable territory, contain so large a percentage of aluminium that it is probable that they may become a most important source of supply.
