Show THE VISIT OF THE BOARD. j Yesterday the church board of edu : cation vreited the B. Y. academy, an.! each member was both astonished an i delighted at what he saw. It was a revelation to them. They were under the .impression that the echool w?s i planted in different buildings about ! town as it was after the old original building was burned down; but when theyBaw the palatial f structure, the present home of the school, their delight de-light broke into words of high praise, M indeed .wai natural aod proper, ytn tkf board weri aBprUed ef i j v i j ; the fact that one or two citizens wtre staegering under a vast load of debt, the cost of the original construction and of present maintenance, they declared de-clared at once that strenuous efforts would be at once made to lift this burden, and to endow the school with, at least one hundred thousand dollars. What a boon this will prove to the school! How gladly will the venera-able venera-able President Smoot and others hail this generous recognition of the church! The church can well afford to do this work for the school. She is sending the brightest teachers and missionaries out from the institution carrying carry-ing tne blessings of the school abroad into the territory and into distant dis-tant lands. And if any other church institution is worthy the recognition and help of the great body of the church, surely this, the brightest, the costliest and most valuable jewel in its crown, should be no longer suffered to lean upon the shoulders of a few only of its local supporters. sup-porters. A little real help now will be of vast benefit to the echool and the relief will be felt all over the territory or where-ever where-ever else the spirit of " the Mormon church has penetrated over the broad earth. |
