Show In conversing yesterday with W, N. Duesenterry, probate judge of this county, a Dispatch reporter was informed in-formed that the county is carrying upwards up-wards of $3000.00 of last year's taxes secured by tax sale deeds to real estate that the owners of which have allowed to be sold for taxes. Of course it is generally understood that the taxpayers tax-payers who have allowed their property to be thus sold expect to redeem it within two years, the specified time, butthequerv na'urally arises dotbeEB people realize that during all this time they are paying the very high rate of 18 per cent, interest per'annum? They are, and the suggestion is offered that it is possible to borrow money on the real estate security at a lower rate of interest and thereby save the difference. It money can be borrowed even at 12 per C9nt. which is a high rate, that makes a saving re the tax-payers whose propei ty is thus encumbered of $180.00 per annum. Marriage licenses b&ye been issued to Eugene H. Pulver, agedjtwenty-two, and Annie M. Frisby, aged twenty-one. both of Payson ; and to John Ballard, aged twenty-five, of Payson, and Mary A. Huff, aged twenty, of Benjamin. The latter couple were married by Commissioner Dudley the batcielor commissioner forgot the kissing part of theceremonj and now the legality of the knot is being questioned. |
