Show Mindajr School Conference. A brief report of the district conference confer-ence of Saboath schools held at Payson oo Sunday last has leen kindly handed Thic Dispatch for publication by Secretary Sec-retary James Hardy. Abraham H. Cannon of tsalt Lake was present also L. E. Eggertsen and Wm. S. Rawhngs of the stake presidency, with manv bishops, superintendents and other offi -era from the various schools. The conference was well attended and was htld in the grove. The exercises were: Pavson Fir.-;t ward, theological class of tiv vouns; ladies and five gentlemn. The atternoon session began at 2 o clock After opening exercises lhe Santaquin Sunday school recited in concert, k'The Life of Joseph Smith." Apostle A. H. Cannon addressed the schools. His remarks were of a very encouraging en-couraging nature. He drtw attention to the proper culture of the minda of the children in their training and that the lessons learned should proceed from the heart, so that it might impress im-press them in their lives. Commended the teachers in their. labors for the advancement ad-vancement of the Sabbath school cause. Salem, Bong by four young ladies- Superintendent Eii Hawkins of Benjamin Ben-jamin addressed the schools. Spanish Fork, Song by Sister Booth, "The Better Land." Lake Shore. Recitation by Elizabeth Ferguson, "Life of Brigham Young." Addresses were made by Bishop Hill of Spriugville, Superintendent Taylor and Wm. T. Woreencroft of Payson, eacn giving accounts of their Tabors among the youth. Benediction by Bishop Argyle. After the dismissal a meeting of the superintendents, officers and teachers was held. Timely instructijn was imparted im-parted by Superntendent Eggertsen in relation to the well being of their schools. An evening meeting was held in the meeling-hcuse commencing at 8 o'clock. After the usual exercises addresses ad-dresses were made bv Secretary James Hardy, Superintendents W. E, Rawl inga and Eggertsen on the work of the Sabbath fcchool cause. The speakers encouraged the parents to persevere and use all diligence in this noble work. Grpat praise is due to all the schools for their labors and especially for the hospitality and kindness of the good people of Payson. |
