Heavy Damage Suits Commenced by the Strawberry Valler Oattle Company Si The Strawberry Valley Cattle Co.. has filed suit in the JFirst District court against the following defendants for the amounts set opposite their names: James A. Cunningham 89 000 "Wm. JBrouge 1 500 John Austin 3 000 J, M. Davis 2 000 Jedediah Brough 1 200 Andv Austin 1 000 John Ingram 1 000 These euita are the result of the decision de-cision in the case of the Strawbeiry Valley Cattle Co. vs. J. I Chipmnn in which Judge King held that the Cattle company's lease of Indian lands on the Uintah reservation is valid. The claims for damages are for injury done to the plaintiff company's land, by reason of defendants allowing their sheep to graie upon said lands which the cattle company has leaEed for a cattle range. In each case an injunction against further grazing of sheep by the defen dant on plaintiff's lands, and a restraining order to prevent such grazing pending trial of the Buits, has been issued in each case- A large number of similar suits against other defendants will be filed in a few days Hichards & Richards and Brown & Henderson are attorney's for the cattle cat-tle company. The Mdnti Savings bank Has brought suit against George W, S'evenBen and others to collect 8500 00 on a promissory prom-issory note, and to foreclose a chattle mortgage given to secure the payment of the note. Erastus Prandsen of Mount Pleasant Pleas-ant Iub appealed a case from Justice Larter's court, in Mount Pleasant, in which he biought suit against the Moroni Mo-roni and Mount Pleasant Irrigation company, for $100 00 damages sus tained by reason of the overflow of water Irom the defendant company's canal upon land owned by plaintiff, The decision in the lower court went against him. |
