Show proposed constitutional amendment no 2 SENATE JOINT ItE SOLUTION VO no 0 A resolution proposing an amendment to section 7 article 13 ol of the con station of 0 the state ot of utah relating to tax rates for or state purposes pur posea be it resolved ty by tho the legislature of 0 the state of utah two thirds of eat all tho the members elected to daok house concurring therein section I 1 that it lei la proposed to amend section 7 of article XIII of the constitution of the state of 0 utah so GO that the same will read as follows tol lowi sec 7 the rate ot of taxation on property for state purposes shall nover never exceed 8 mills on each dollar of valuation to bo be apportioned as follows not to exceed la 14 mills on each dollar of valuation tor for general state stat purposes not to exceed 3 2 mills on each dollar of valuation tor for district purposes not to exceed mill on an each dollar ot of valuation tor for high school purposes that part ot of the state tax apportioned to high school purposes shall constitute u to a fund to be called the high school fund and shall be apportioned to tho the cities and school districts maintaining high schools in the manner the may r n y provide and whenever the taxa taxable b aa property within th the 0 state shall amount to 00 the rates shall not exceed on each dollar ot of valuation two and tour four tenths mills tor for general Benora 1 state purposes two tenths of 0 one mill tor for high school pur purposes posos and such levy tor for district school purposes as will raise annually an amount which added to any other state funds unda available tor for district school purposes equals 25 00 tor for each person of school age in the state shown by the last preceding school census unless a proposition to increase such rate or rates specifying the rate or rates proposed and the time during which the same shall be egied evi ed be first submitted to a vote af such of the qualified electors doctors of the state as in the year next preceding such ouch election shall have paid a property tax assessed to thorn them within the state and the majority of those thosa voting thereon shall vote in favor thereof in such manner as a may be provided by law see sec 2 the secretary of state Is directed to cause this proposed amendment to be published as required by the constitution and to be submitted to the electors of the state at the next central election in the manner provided by law sec 3 it if approved by the electors elector of the state this proposed amendment shall khall take effect on the day of january 1921 approved march 18 19 is |
