Show B DEMOCRATIC1 GAINS. Hf Pi All the indications of the signs of IHj the times point to democratic gainB H this year. This is especially noticable H in Utah. The people of Utah are H awakening to the factB of history and H begin to see who have been their best H frienis. Try as our republican friends B may to conceal the truth, the people H i will not close their eyes all the time. H The only voice raised in congress in B the past pleading for a softening of B harsh measures proposed to bring Utah H Into line were voices of democrats, Hj and the voices heard in Congress H against statehood were voices of re- Hj publicans, whilst democrats were vie- E ing with each other to increase our H land grants and in many ways to ex- Hj press their desire to welcome Utah R into the sisterhood of states. H It goes without saying that Utah is H naturally democratic. The "hard H times" are passing away and people H are beginning to see that the fake cry H that low tariff was the cause, waB noth- H ing but an ignuB fatus of republicanism H raised to lure them from the beaten H path of truth into the bogs and marsh- H os ol error. H v The cry of "home industry" is being HL shown up in its true light, and people HJ realize that taxes for governmental H purposes are about all they can enduie j without being also taxed for private Hj enterprises, .which take the nickels H and dimes of poverty to increase the j aollars of those who are comparatively H wealthy. H The personnel of the tickets attract B voters to our Bide. In fact it 1b all Bj coming our way. We only need to be B true to our principles, to be on the Hj alert to guard against tne tricks of the Bj enemy, and we will rejoice on the 5ih B of November in a splendid victory. |
