| Show Adopted Woman Suffrage The Kansas Populists have adopted a woman suffrage plank At Topeka Juno 18 in tho Populist state convention con-vention the minority report indorsing indors-ing tho pending woman suffrage amendment amend-ment was adopted The vote stood 337 to 269 The officeholding element of the party was against the amendment and did everything possible to defeat it Chairman Breidenthal was astonished at the result of the vote The substitute was carried amid the wildest excitement excite-ment When the chairman announced that the suffrage plank had been incorporated incor-porated in the platform the women on the stage embraced each other and waved their handkerchiefs while the convention conven-tion went wild The enthusiasm was greatly increased when Susan B Anthony An-thony and the Rev Anna Shaw stepped to the speakers stand and pinned Populist Pop-ulist badges on their breasts Boston Womans Journal |
