Show THE CAMPAIGN So far the campaign in Utah has pone unquestionably in favor of the democrats The masses of the people fully appreciate the work done for the territory by the democratic party since its advent to power We are to credit patriotic republicans also with a love for their homes and an appreciation ap-preciation and gratitude for services such as the democratic party has rendered ren-dered The wisdom of nominating the able and devoted man who under God was the instrument in conferring these massive benefits cannot now be doubted His name has flashed into all of our bright beautiful valleys tar up the sides of our rugged mountains out upon our deserts where the stockmen stock-men roam and into every workshop school college and university or wherever men toil and one mighty shout has gone up it is a shout of enthusiasm en-thusiasm It is devotion to the man who did more in eighteen months thau all others who attempted to serve Utah for the last thirty years Men women childrenall shout for the brave honest hon-est servant of the people who has crowned the territory with the diadem of statehood and won for the church and the people almost untold benefits Unquestionably this is the chief element ele-ment in the success which even now seems perfectly certain and which is growing surer an I brighter with each passing hour Every democrats loins are girded and all are working as men do who deserve success The long unbroken record of the partys friendship friend-ship for Utah its efforts to srve her its principles which apply so admirably and fit so perfectly her every condition I condi-tion and surrounding all this goes to juetify the party claim upon the allegiance al-legiance of the people of Utah and they are meeting that sacred claim like the honest faithful men they are Added to this the illustrious founders of the church its great lights in all the history of the church and territory from Joseph Smith down to the venerable gentleman who now stands at its head and the people peo-ple belonged to the democratic party in their simple characters charac-ters of men and citizens The interests in-terests of Utah lie altogether with the theories of the democrats now as they did in those days of hardship hard-ship and sacrifice when Brigham Young led the hosts of Zion across the black wilderness to these rugged valleys val-leys which are now smiling amide these lofty mountains and the peace plenty and happiness reigning on every hand and in every heart The opening of the Uiutah and Un compaghre reservations by the demc I crats under the urgings of Mr Rawlins our leader in the present fight the defeat de-feat of the cruel project to unload the southern Utps upon isan Juan county the restoration of the escheated property prop-erty the paying back of the money by the government taken from tho church by the republican party while in control con-trol at Washington all these are causes to incline honest people to favor party producing such evidences of zrieudship rather than that ciuel party and policy which so cruelly despoiled the people and the churh It is not etranze that the people of Utah favor Mr Rawlins and his party rather than Mr Cannon and his party What fair minded man can blame them What fairminded man can fail to vote for Rawlins rather than the other Fairmindedness hones ty integrity are qualities just as graceful and an valuable in politics as they are in the church in everyday business or in the homes the people These are positive benefits conferred I con-ferred by the democracy and Joe L Rawlins JSow will some illustrious IB I publican point us to one single good conferred by Mr Frank J Cannon or the republican party |
