Show AN ORDINANCE To Provide for the Graveling Gravel-ing of the Sidewalks in Graveling Districts Noa , No. 2 and No. 3. Sec. 1. The three sidewalk graveling gravel-ing dist-icts heretofore established by the City council, known as Graveling Districts No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, come within the purview and meaning of this ordinance, the boundaries of said districts being as follows: The sidewalks side-walks on J street from First to Fifteenth Fif-teenth street, Seventh street from A to O street, and E street from First to Twelfth street, comprise district No. 1. K, L, M and N streets, from Third to Fifteenth street, and all streets running run-ning east from J to N street comprise dietrict No. 2. All streets running north and south between J and E streets, and all streets running east and west from First to Twelfth, both inclusive except Seventh street, comprise com-prise district No. 3. Sec. 2. A tax, not to exceed Six Thousand Dollars, is hereby levied on the real estate lying and being within the limits of said sidewalk graveling districts, for tho purpose of graveling with mountain gravel and otherwise repairing the sidewalks in the aboye named districts. Sec 3. The assessment for graveling gravel-ing purposes shall be according to the front rod, or fraction thereof abutting upon the sidewalk to bo improved, and the amount of assessment shall be calculated cal-culated on each rod of sidewalk according ac-cording to the estimated need thereof, Provided; that the aggregate tax shall be within the limit herein named. Sec. 4. The City Eecorder or his deputy shall list and assess the property pro-perty according to the provisions of this ordinance, stating the name of the owner, or ii unknown there so stating, and civing the number of lot and block, and name of plat and number num-ber ot rods, or fraction thereof, of.each lot and piece of ground fronting the sidewalks, and theamonnt of taxleyied thereon. Sec. 5. After the list is made up and the assessment approved by the City Council, notice 3hall be given in some newspaper of the completion of said list, for not lees than five consecutive conse-cutive days, and from the date of the first publication of said notice, and during the time specified therein the said list shall be open to public inspection, and any person or persons feeling themselves aggrieved shall have a hearing before the said Council. Notice shall be given of the time when the City Council shall sit to hear grievances and complaints of errors in assessment. Sec. 6. Tne Supervisor of Streets is hereby constituted the collector of the tax asseseed by tbis ordinance. Upon receipt by him of the corrected tax liet he shall furnish to each property tax-payer owning real estate within the said sidewalk graveling district, or leave at his residence or usual place of business, or mailed to his address, if known, a notice of the tax assessed against him, and when pnd where payable, pay-able, and when delinquent, and what portion thereof may be paid in gravel, and when the said tax is due he shall proceed to collect the assessment and to enforce the payment of Buch portion por-tion thereof as may become delinquent in the manner provided by the laws of the Territory, and the ordinances of Proyo City for the collection of city general tax. Sec.7, The City Supervisor of Streets shall be responsible on his bonds for the faithful performance of his duties aB collector of any and all taxes assessed as-sessed and collected under the proyis ions of thia ordinance. Sec. 8. All taxeB assessed under the provisions of this ordinance shall be due and payable on the first day of December, A. D. 1895, and any and all taxes remaining unpaid on the first day of April, A. D. 1S96, shall be deemed delinquent. Sec. 9. The tax assessed under the provisions of this ordinanca may be paid in whole or in part in mountain gravel, at the option of the taxpayers, at the rate of fifty centB per load, of not less than one cubic yard, delivered on the sidewalk where the same ia to be ueed.
