Show A Rich Country HUNTINGTON Aug 22 Correspondence Corre-spondence DISPATCH Our farmers are all busy haying and harvesting The crops this season are exceptionally good perhaps never better in the valley val-ley Fruits of all kinds most are to be M t j nCJur lent quality The growth of trees both shade and fruit is something wonderful G W Johnson Sr has a Poplar tree which measures 4 feet and 9 inches in circumference cir-cumference This same tree came out of the ground 8 years ago last spring Today I visited Hugh McKees arden ar-den and saw corn growing which was planted May 15th and which now measures 11 teet 9 inches in height Lhree cucumbers were measured which were 87 inches 82 and 80 inches long Onions grown from the seed this year measured 4 inches in diameter We have an abundance of land and water that can be made to produce in like manner Yet many of our people have gone north into Idaho and Wyoming ming to find homes Lumber shingles fencing etc cane can-e had in the canyon at a distance of from twelve to twentyfive miles A good quality of brick Is wade here A first class roller mill is jn course of construction and is being crowded to completion as tbev expect to have it ready for work in November Water for culinary purposes is not as good as we desire as we have to depend de-pend > upon the river and freshets from the mountains are quite frequent The health of the people is good We hear but little of politics nowadays nowa-days but this matter will no doubt receive ceive due attention in the time and season thereof While we look upon money as the root ot many evils yet would we be pleased to see a little of the vile traeh again DEl SEE Uu |
