Show I 1 give the youngsters A chance to enjoy coasting 0 while no serious coasting acci acel dents have been reported in eureka there have been a number of fatall ties in other parts of the state and it Is not out of place to sound a warning to auto owners on some of the streets of the camp signs have nave been posted calling tor for slow driving and we sincerely hope that such warnings will be heeded of course the streets are for I 1 vehicles and not for coasting but I 1 drivers ought to be willing for a few days at least to forego some of their rights in the interest of the pleasure and especially the krotec tion of the boys and girls fast past driving Is dangerous at all times and more especially during the winter time when ice and snow cover the streets of eureka the man with the proper mental makeup will be willing to drive slow and to stop occasionally for the pur pose of looking and listening tor for the youth and his sled which are every where in evidence the man who is not willing to drive slowly and keep his car under control under existing conditions is not a good citizen of course there Is some danger of an accident even when the motorist exercises the greatest care some youngster on a flyer Is liable to coast directly into his auto but many accidents of this nature which have taken place in other cities could perhaps have been averted had motorists been traveling slowly and trying to avert such mishaps |
