Show auto accident results in death of two residents of this city george dewey hanyes aged 24 years and a prominent young bust ness man ot of eureka lost bia his life an auto accident which took on the highway near the spanish fork sugar factory at about eleven clock last friday night mrs jennie mccall hutchings of payson who had been employed in eureka tor for several months also was killed and dean beck beek and carl horst other occupants of the auto sustained injuries mr horst an automobile sales man employed by the L 0 naylor company of salt lake spent friday I 1 in n cureka and had contracted with beck beek and haynes operating the B H garage of this city to take over the local agency tor for the nash car the preliminaries had been ar ranged and mr horst suggested that beck beek and haynes accompany him to salt lake to complete the business transaction they planned to go through to salt lake on friday night and return the following day mrs hutchings who had recently been employed by mr and mrs richard haynes asked tor for and was given permission to ride to salt alt lake ire the distressing accident which re suited in the death of mr hir haynes and mrs hutchings took place at a turn in the road a few hundred yards south of the spanish fork sugar factory when the car I in such a manner that 0 one 0 of f the rear wheels A nas as broken 7 shejna T h e ma chins was overturned an and struck a telephone pole mr haynes who abo was driving the car w was Vs thrown against the steering with wil such force that his ribs were broken penetrating the lungs and deahn resulted within a few minutes mrs I 1 I 1 hutchings neck was broken and death must have been almost iastan ganeous when the car was overturned mr horst who was thrown clear of the wreck and who escaped without serious injury hastened to the sugar factory and secured assistance A physician was also summoned from spanish fork but he learned on his ar abrial rial that mr haynes and mrs hutchings had been dead tor for several minutes the other occupants of the car beck and horst were taken to he the physician physicians s office where their in juries unes received attention the bodies of mr haynes and mrs hutchings were removed to the undertaking establishment at span sh h fork and that of the former was sent to the family home in eureka 1 the following day i A report of the accident reached sureka eureka about midnight and early the he following morning the news was lashed flashed to all parts of the city caus ing widespread sorrow mr haynes was born in eureka twenty four ears ago and his entire life hadi been spent here he was the son afi mrs agnes haynes and a member of one of the camp s best known families the young man had been engaged in business for the past few years and had a very bright future he was of a pleasing disposition exceptionally enterprising and honor able in all his dealings A sad fe fei 1 ure in connection with his death was the fact that service was held for dewey hanyes at the L D S church in this city on mon day afternoon the large edifice being much too small to accommodate the great number attending bishop finch presided at the sel vice and the opening prayer was by william thurgood E W redmond and P C hood were the speakers while bishop gagon of knightville Knight ville offered the closing prayer the church choir rendered one number mrs vern firth and mrs lee manson sang and there was also a selection by a quartette composed of joseph paulson heber jones A burton and walter christopher son the pall bearers were flory flor y sullivan ronald mcdonnell clar clat ence gourley henry bloss john mathews and Elmer Elmor Ferguson scores of beautiful floral offer ings were b banned eted about the casket showing ftfe A apo e high esteem ih h which the augg man was held by eureka people the funeral cortege was one 0 unusual length the cars travel fag frig in close formation extending from the city to the cemetery nearly two miles distant the burial at the city cemetery was under the direction of under taker alvin wallace and the grave was dedicated by bishop finch rinch othel victim leaves family mrs hutchings the other vi victim atlin of the accident was 29 years of age and the mother of tour four children the lady was born at payson and her maiden name was miss jennie mccall being the only daughter of mr tir and mrs james mccall of that city she married lavar hutchings ten years ago and a divorce action was pending at the time of the wife s death the tour four children ranging in age from three to nine years j have been living with relatives relative S I 1 in i n idaho for several months mrs s hutchings had been living under hr maiden name of mccall since she parted from her husband I 1 funeral services tor for mrs hutch ings were conducted at payson early in the week iwick teus tells of accident dean beck says that he was oa on the right side of the rear seat at the time of the accident horst who also escaped serious injury was on I 1 the right of the driver in the front seat mr beck says that the rear wheel on his side of the car broke under the strain as the car was mak ing the curve the car having left the pavement and the trouble in al a measure being due to the extremely rough ground at that point the auto turned completely over ani landed on its top and beck beek and horst seem to have fallen clear of the machine or at least they had no trouble in freeing treeing themselves hort ran to the sugar factory and beck beek succeeded in freeing treeing haynes who was pinned down and sufferina hanyes was conscious for a few minutes other motorists who chanced to be on the road reached the scene of the accident and ren dered assistance some time before help arrived
